We started out as an internet cafe w in August 1999. It was always our intention to fine tune the business and develope it into a franchiseable concept.
As with many businesses it took a while to find our niche. All along our food had a distinctively Australian Flavour. Big John was raised in rural South Australia. A decendant of Yorkshire farmers who emigrated to Australia seval generations ago, Big John learnt to cook at home, from the age of 4 years helping in the kitchen. By the age of 8 years he could cook dinner for the family on his own. He like many Australians was raised eating Pies, pasties and sausage rolls, almost every day. It would appear that all those years of helping in the kitchen and eating pies paid off. It was in 2001 Big John, not being able to find a good pie in Thailand, turned his hand to making pies. Which are now sold to other restaurants in Bangkok and in Villa supermarkets.
In 2003 we added a few guestrooms with almost immediate success.
Our early attempts to franchise proved to be less than desirable, due only to our inexperience in choosing honourable partners. The upside of our early attempts to franchise have been the proof that we have a workable and repaetable model. Having experienced pitfalls early we are in a situation not to make the same mistakes again.
We are currently looking to expand our operations in Bangkok, Thailand and Southeast Asia.
